Then, I spent some time working on lists to copy and send home with the kids. This seems like such a simple task, but in order to get the lists finished with the spelling rules written at the top, I had to go through all six (yes, that’s right, six) Teacher’s Guides to find the list and rule so I could type them. I decided that there might be some of you out there who could benefit from my work, so I put the lists on Teachers Pay Teachers here.
If you are using Journeys, what do you do for the spelling
component? And (perhaps more
importantly) are you completely overwhelmed by all of the components involved
with this curriculum?!

We're using Wonders in our school district but we're in the same boat. The amount of stuff is overwhelming. It's just insane. And fitting everything that they suggest into one 45 minute time block is a bit of a mess, too.
I'm just hoping that as the year progresses and I get more in sync with the curriculum it'll start to make more sense and move faster.
I am using the Journey's Spelling in my classroom this year. I type up 6 lists at a time, copy them front to back, and slide them in a page protector in my student's homework folders. So far, all I've had students do for spelling homework is ABC order and 5 sentences. However, I'm looking for some alternatives, especially for my lowest spellers who are using the struggling list. Our 2nd grade adopted the complete curriculum and I've heard from several of them that it is very overwhelming. I'm not a textbook lover, but when we had a chance to look this one over I was pretty impressed with what it had to offer. There just never seems to be enough time to get it all in though!
